You'll also find plans that have been designed by a professional of the trade.

Take my advice and thoroughly research any free boat plans you find before you begin construction. You'll want to insure that the designer cares as much about the finished product as you will the first time you slip that graceful piece of handcrafted romance into the water.

Crafting a wooden-boat is a project that will take a considerable amount of your time when done correctly, take an extra bit at the beginning to insure your future shipmates safety.
